Artist-in-Residence Program
The ComPeung Artist-in-Residence Program is designed for local and international artists to live and work together with our team and the local community. Interested artists are encouraged to apply by providing ComPeung with a preliminary proposal of her/his/their art work or project. As a work-in-progress we understand that the proposed project might change in the process.
By living and working together in basic yet comfortable conditions with our team, the local communities and a broad spectrum of artists, the ComPeung program provides the resident artists with a wide range of exchanges, opportunities, experiences and possibilities. ComPeung envisions to be an open playground for dialogs, alternative contexts, experiments, explorations, and mutual learning. The aspired goal for ComPeung is to develop and expand into a network of artists and art organizations on local, regional and international levels.

Facilities
We don't provide fancy cocktail bars, king-size beds or cable TV. What we do provide are the necessities of living in a rural, tropical area such as genuine hospitality, mosquito nets, running water, electricity and fresh produce from the local market. By providing home-cooked meals, accommodation and studio spaces, our team will maintain a level of comfort and renowned Thai hospitality. As ComPeung is a modest self-sustainable non-profit organization, residents will be asked to participate in the maintenance of the site, if necessary. Such a practice also propagates our idea of finding inspiration in daily, lived experience.

Applications: who/how
All participants play an important role here as we have to help one another maintaining the space. ComPeung is a space for people who have serious visions and questions about the creative process. If you are simply looking for a short holiday, this is not the place for you. As a small organization with limited facilities, presently we cannot cater for more than 3 individual artists (or 2 small groups) at once. However, we hope to provide more space and opportunities for more artists in the near future. When applying online, artists should submit the following documents:
- Application Form (download)
- Curriculum Vitae (2 pages A4)
- 10 - 20 images, sound, video/animation files and/or Power Point file edited up to 20 min max. All files must be saved in PC compatible formats.
- Other possible attached materials (send by post): Video tape (PAL), printed pictures, catalogs, press clippings, books.
