Nothing is immutable
even the Fixed Stars.
That is why
even if it is not made perfect,
never mind, Mai Pen Rai.
In the time of 5,670,000,000 years later
since the Buddha, Sakyamuni entering nirvana,
the Future Buddha, Maitreya will appear
and help everything entering nirvana.
The work consists of two elements: the support medium of a meridian and the text about time.
I looked for Polaris (The Pole Star) in cloudy night sky in Chiang-Mai in August.
And I found several points where I can see the Polaris above the roof tip-top of "Don-mi House" that was being built by Japanese college students.
This made an imaginary horizontal line through the center of the house and it must be a meridian.
I visualized the meridian with construction waste soil of Don-mi House as support medium.
Because the site around the meridian is sidling, supports were constructed to be horizontal.
And then, I found the special point where Polaris looked
as the tip-top of a decorated Christmas-tree when you see the house from the point.
So I paved bricks that was also the waste of the house and made it to be a house watching point in the night.
That is a first element of the work.
Nothing is immutable. Everything collapses in a long time. It's not bad.
The Buddhism, the established religion of Thailand has the legend of Maitreya, the Future Buddha.
According to the legend, everything will enter nirvana in the distant future.
Moreover, Just a 12,000 years later,
Vega in the constellation Lyra will become the Pole Star,
and Polaris will rotate widely in the night sky.
I wrote some text about it.
The name of the house "Don-mi" means "Never mind" or "Don't mind" in Japanglish,
it means the same to "Mai Pen Rai" in Thai.
I put my hommage to the house with the constructions and the text.
Each of the two things made two additional span of time around the house.
One is a collapsing of the construction, another is changing the pole star.
That is a second element of the work.
The support lapped meridian initially but It is collapsing with time that should be shorter than the house.
That can be the influence of the rain, wind, plant, birds, bugs, live stocks and children.
The figure would be disappeared earlier than Don-mi house. But the imaginary line can be seen in the clear night after that.
