FAQ

Artist-in-Residence Program

The ComPeung Artist-in-Residence Program is designed for local and international artists to live and work together with our team and the local community. Interested artists are encouraged to apply by providing ComPeung with a preliminary proposal of her/his/their art work or project. As a work-in-progress we understand that the proposed project might change in the process.

By living and working together in basic yet comfortable conditions with our team, the local communities and a broad spectrum of artists, the ComPeung program provides the resident artists with a wide range of exchanges, opportunities, experiences and possibilities. ComPeung envisions to be an open playground for dialogs, alternative contexts, experiments, explorations, and mutual learning. The aspired goal for ComPeung is to develop and expand into a network of artists and art organizations on local, regional and international levels.

FAQ

Q: What are the expenses for artists when accepted into our regular residency program?

A: For our regular residency program, we charge the invited artist a residency fee of 30.000 THB p/m. As ComPeung is a small, self-supported organization, this fee covers accommodation, 3 meals p/d and transport to/from airport. Once a year we give out 2 full grants (ComPeung Grants).

Q: Are there any expectations?

A: When artists apply, we ask them on our application form to provide a brief project outline of what they intend to do during the residency. We do not expect the visiting artist to donate a work. For works of temporary nature, we expect that artists make arrangements with us regarding the dismantling of works and disposal of material. From ourselves we expect to provide artists with an inspiring and supportive environment to sucessfully pursue their projects.

Q: Are personal contact details of previous resident artists available?

A: It is our policy not to give out contact details without consent. We will forward such requests and if permission is granted we will share those details.
